Itinerary

Eurovelo 8 - Elche to Valencia - 7 nights | 6 stages

Day 1 - Arrival to Elche

With several monuments declared world heritage sites, the city of Elche is a good place to start your bicycle trip. The day before starting to pedal, you can visit its fantastic palm grove (the largest in Europe) and walk along the Vinalopó River.

Day 2 - Elche – Alicante (40 km)

After a good breakfast, the first stage will take us to Alicante through a gentle route ideal for warming up. It is worth paying attention to the landscape since it is a very arid area where you will rarely have cycled. Palm trees and fruit plantations will accompany you. Once in Alicante, it is highly recommended to walk through the port and Postiguet beach under the gaze of the Santa Bárbara Castle.

Day 3 - Alicante - Castalla (50 km)

Today will be the most demanding day of the route, as we leave the coast to enter the peninsula. We will do it along the Maigmó Greenway, built to connect Alcoy with Alicante. The landscape will definitely change to give way to pine trees as we pedal through beautiful engineering works such as the Forn del Vidre viaducts (140 m) or the impressive Palomaret (200 m).

Day 4 - Castalla - Alcoy (35 km)

After a good breakfast, today we will regain strength on a gentle stage to Alcoy. We will have the opportunity to pedal next to the Carrascal de la Fuente Roja Natural Park with its beautiful Mediterranean landscape.

Day 5 - Alcoy - Gandía (55 km)

Today we will look out to the sea again. On this occasion, we will do it in Gandía, where we will arrive after cycling along the Serpis River in a pleasant winding between the valleys through which the railway previously passed to Villalonga. In Gandía, it is advisable to try its famous Fideuá.

Day 6 - Gandía - Cullera (35 km)

After breakfast in Gandía, today we will take a beautiful route through wetlands, orange plantations and other fruit trees until we reach the first rice fields of the Albufera Natural Park. We will be greeted by a huge stone mass in Cullera, with its castle on top and its long, wonderful beach.

Day 7 - Cullera - Valencia (60 km)

Today is the last day of pedaling and you will be surprised to do it through wetlands and rice fields next to the Mediterranean Sea. Furthermore, you will do it next to the best beaches in the south of Valencia, in the natural park and with dunes that still guard those fantastic beaches. We will enter Valencia in a big way, in the City of Arts and Sciences as our first contact with the city.

Day 8 - Return

After a good breakfast, the trip will be over.
